Maxon. Monofilament synthetic absorbable polyglyconate material.

Material Description: Maxon is made from polyglyconate, a copolymer of glycolic acid and trimethylene carbonate.
Material Characteristic:
excellent tension retention in vivo; excellent knot retention;
• Unique manipulation properties;
• Minimal memory of suture material.
Indications: Maxon is used for tissue matching and/or ligation, including use in pediatric cardiovascular surgery and peripheral vascular surgery. Maxon is not used in adult cardiovascular surgery, ophthalmology, or on nervous tissues.
Action: Maxon’s synthetic absorbable suture material does not cause an inflammatory reaction on the tissues. The final resorption of the Mahop suture material occurs by hydrolysis.
Strength: Studies conducted in the field of subcutaneous implantation of Maxon suture material have determined that approximately 75% of the strength remains in the first 2 weeks, 65% of the strength remains for 3 weeks and 50% of the strength remains after 4 weeks after implantation of the suture material.
Resorption: Minimal resorption of Maxon suture material after implantation occurs by day 60 and complete resorption occurs by 6 months.
Sterilization: Ethylene oxide.
Packaging: Maxon is produced in various lengths, diameters, with needles and in ligatures/coils. Boxes of 12, 24 and 36 pieces.
