Polysorb. Braided synthetic absorbable suture material.

Description of the material:
Polysorb coated braided
synthetic absorbable suture consists of a LACTOMER glycolide/lactide copolymer, which consists of glycolide and lactide derived from glycolic acid and lactic acid. Polysorb suture material during manufacture. It is coated with a composition of a copolymer of caprolactone/ glycolide and calcium stearoyl lactylate.

• Excellent durability during critical wound maintenance;
• Excellent knot strength;
• Excellent manipulation properties;
• Predictable resorption time.
Indications: Polysorb is designed for suturing or ligating tissues in general, thoracic surgery, urology and gynecology, ophthalmic surgery. However, its use in cardiovascular surgery and on nervous tissues is limited.
Action: Polysorb does not cause an inflammatory reaction in tissues. Progressive loss of strength and final resorption of the Polysorb suture material occur by hydrolysis, when lactomer breaks down into glycolic acid and lactic acid, which is subsequently absorbed and metabolized in the body.
Durability: Studies conducted in the field of subcutaneous implantation of Polysorb suture material have determined that 80% of the strength remains for 2 weeks and 30% remains after 3 weeks after implantation of the suture material. While at the initial stage, the strength of the Polysorb suture material is estimated at 140% of the USP and EP standards.
Resorption: The resorption process begins as a loss of strength without loss of mass and ends between 56 and 70 days.
Sterilization: Ethylene oxide.
Packaging: Polysorb suture is produced in a colorless or purple-colored version. Possible sizes range from USP2 to USP8-0 (M0.4). Sterile suture material is supplied in sections or with various types of needles. Boxes of 12, 24 and 36 pieces.
